CTTF was created to bring attention to global aluminum overcapacity and foreign governments’ manipulation of the aluminum marketplace. Tens of thousands of American jobs are at risk as a result of these unfair trade practices, a direct assault to America’s aluminum industry.
GLOBAL ILLEGAL TACTICS
- The U.S. primary aluminum industry has lost 62 percent of its production in the past five years alone.
- Over the last 18 months, more than 4,000 workers have lost their jobs due to illegal subsidization of aluminum and global overcapacity.
- The U.S. aluminum market is responsible for over 10,600 American jobs and contributes over $6 billion in U.S. economic output each year.
- Since 2009, during a period in which global aluminum prices have come under pressure, state-owned smelters in China, the Middle East, and in other Asian countries have added 17 million tons of new capacity.
